about Me

I'm a Rehabilitation Counsellor, senior alcohol and other drug (AOD) clinician, and multicultural AOD consultant with close to a decade of experience in addiction, human behaviour, mental health and rehabilitation. My professional background spans frontline counselling, correctional settings and leadership of specialist drug and alcohol services. I'm also active in research, university education, policy and sector advocacy, and provide specialist consultancy to health, community and religious organisations.

Born and raised in South Western Sydney, I've grown up surrounded by people from different cultures and walks of life. I've seen firsthand the impact addiction can have on individuals and families, and I've had my own experiences supporting loved ones through difficult times. This work has always been personal to me.

I've always been curious about why we do what we do, what makes certain behaviours so hard to change, and what helps people move forward. That curiosity has driven me to keep learning, because wanting to help and knowing how to help are two different things.

For me, helping people isn't just a job. It's a responsibility to listen, understand and do what I can to make a difference.

My Approach

For me, counselling starts with a genuine conversation. I take a relaxed, down-to-earth, non-judgmental approach, so you can feel comfortable being yourself and talking openly about what is going on in your life. I believe there's always more to a person's story than the behaviours or challenges we see on the surface, and I take the time to understand what might be happening beneath them.

Our upbringing, relationships, culture, faith, and life experiences all shape who we are and how we behave. I genuinely enjoy hearing different perspectives, learning from people, and understanding what matters most to them.

I don't believe there's one approach that works for everyone. Whether you're navigating addiction, working through personal challenges, or supporting someone you love, my role is to listen, understand, and work alongside you towards meaningful change.

I've learnt that just because a service is available doesn't always mean people feel comfortable accessing it. Shame, stigma, cultural expectations and personal circumstances can all make seeking support difficult.

My experience spans counselling, disability, correctional settings, grassroots community-led initiatives and leading specialist drug and alcohol services. Working across these settings has taught me that understanding people's backgrounds, experiences and needs makes a real difference.

Whether I'm supporting someone through counselling or helping organisations improve their services, I believe in listening first, challenging assumptions and working alongside people and communities to find what genuinely works for them.
